On May 18, our partner Azizbek Akhmadjonov and associate Iroda Tokhirova spoke at the interim session of the Foreign Investors Council (FIC) under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Mr. Jamshid Khodjaev, and dedicated to the review of initiatives advanced by FIC members ahead of the IV Plenary Session.

As co-leads of the Working Group focused on land allocation procedures for investors, our team presented a number of initiatives aimed at improving the legal, tax and regulatory framework for investment and PPP projects in Uzbekistan. The discussions focused on improving land-related payment mechanisms, streamlining land allocation, recategorisation and registration procedures, enhancing legal certainty for investor-built facilities, and introducing more transparent and predictable mechanisms for the provision and use of land plots in large-scale infrastructure and PPP projects.

The session brought together representatives of government authorities, international advisors, foreign investors and business associations, creating an important platform for dialogue on improving Uzbekistan’s investment climate and regulatory environment.
