A new law introducing significant amendments to the mediation framework has entered into force in Uzbekistan.
Key changes include:
Simplified compulsory enforcement of mediation agreements
No review of the underlying dispute – economic courts asses only non-performance of the mediation agreement
Unified qualification requirements and a mandatory Registry of Mediators
The Ministry of Justice appointed as the authorised regulator
These developments are expected to expand the practical use of mediation and strengthen its role in dispute resolution. In our next update, we will provide a step-by-step guide to obtaining a writ of execution for compulsory enforcement.
